 Angola,
ex- colônia portuguesa em África, tornou-se independente de Portugal em
11 de novembro de 1975. País de inúmeras riquezas, principalmente o
petróleo, o ferro, os diamantes, além de inúmeras outras. Desde sua
independência, porém, Angola esteve às voltas com uma guerra fratricida que
deixou milhares de mortos, feridos e mutilados pelas minas
terrestres. Organizações internacionais estimam que mais de 2 milhões
de minas estejam enterradas em solo angolano, fazendo do esforço para a
sua remoção uma tarefa árdua e hercúlea. Nesse meio termo, crianças,
homens e mulheres são vítimas inocentes dessa barbárie e da insanidade
dos que dizem que, em nome do povo, fizeram esta guerra.
Há PAZ EM ANGOLA. Finalmente, após a
morte de Jonas Savimbi, o país entrou num esforço de recuperação da
situação catastrófica em que ficou. Entidades internacionais de ajuda,
tentam organizar os refugiados de guerra, que se encontram nos diversos
campos espalhados pelo país. É uma tarefa hercúlea. Toda e qualquer
ajuda será pouca, para minimizar o sofrimento deste povo.
Para ajudar, há contas em vários
bancos em Portugal e outros países. Faça suas doações. Também a Cruz
Vermelha, Os Médicos sem Fronteiras e outras ONGs estão colaborando
neste esforço. Dê sua ajuda procurando os escritórios dessas entidades
em sua região ou país. O

Angola, ex- portuguese colony in Africa,
became independent from Portugal in November 11, 1975. Angola is a country
with plenty of natural resources like oil, diamonds, iron, copper, only to
mention a few. Although, after after independence the country lives
in permanent war, a civil war, opposing the UNITA troops commanded by
Jonas Savimbi to the government army. This brotherwood war has killed more
than 1 million people and hundreds are wounded by land mines every year.
Information from military sources estimate that more than 2 million land
mines are still buried in Angola territory, making life miserable for this
people. Children and farmers are the major victims of thi weapon. It
is unbelievable how stupid man can be to sustain such an horror.
ANGOLA at PEACE!
Finnaly, with the death of
Jonas Savimbi, Angola lives in peace. Hundreds of war refugies are camped
in several places across the country. Several ONGs, the Red Cross, UN and
several other people and institutions are trying to help this people to
re-establish a way of living.
Finding jobs for all
ex-military people, and the land mines are the major concern of all
involved in the recuperation of this country.Food and water are scarce. So
is medicine.
The effort in inmense. This
a task for decades.But who´s in desperate need, have no time to wait.So,

any other ONG that is helping Angola, and make your donations. You will be
helping to save lives.
